This is an introductory course into the singing of Broadway repertory for young singers, and for students new to lessons. The class will focus on the development of the young voice in the context of singing age appropriate songs from the Broadway repertory. Each student will be given one or two solos to work on over the course of the class as well as one or two ensembles pieces and will be coached on them in class. The class will present one or more ensembles with solos to be performed at one of the CCM recitals toward the conclusion of the ten week session. Classes will focus on ear training, range, projection, movement and fun! Students will be required to bring a small recording device to all classes, and to practice outside of class.

This is a series of three 10 week vocal workshops for teens, to give them an experience of singing a variety of repertory from classical to Broadway to contemporary styles. This course is useful for beginners as well as those currently taking lessons. Emphasis will be on breath support, focused tone, posture, range, and open and free natural sound. We will cover topics such as head voice and belt voice, diction, and singing in a foreign language. This will be done in the context of singing in varied styles of music. Ensemble and solo work will be coached. And if the student is comfortable and ready, singing in a recital. Students will be required to bring a small recording device to all classes, and to practice outside of class.

This class is designed for the adults who would like to improve their voices for choir singing, for fun, or for the shower! Technical topics included in the course are: breathing and breath support, an open throat, a focused and projecting tone, posture, diction, and other issues that may arise as you try to sing. We will sing a variety of repertory from folk, classical, sacred, Broadway and perhaps a little Italian. There will be singing in ensemble, as well as individual coaching. |
