Jorge Pérez-Albela began playing drumset and cajon in his native Lima, Perú. A Bostonian since 1994, he is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and the Musicians Institute (Percussion Institute of Technology) where he graduated with honors. Jorge has performed with Maria Schneider, Danilo Perez, Bert Seager, Geoffrey Keezer, Eva Ayllon, Sofia Koutsovitis and Mili Bermejo. He has played at various International Jazz festivals and in venues such as: The Blue Note NYC, The Jazz Standard, Jordan Hall, Berklee Performance Center. Jorge is on the faculty at Berklee College of Music for the 2010 Summer Performance Program and also directs a music therapy program in Brookline, MA since 1997. A pioneer program at the Edward Devotion School that helps children with various learning/emotional challenges through music therapy. He has taught Master Classes in various prestigious Colleges and Universities throughout the U.S. and South America.
