Tucker Antell
Saxophone
Tucker Antell grew up in Sarasota, FL and began playing saxophone at the age of 10, playing professionally by 13 and recording by 16 solo, and also with Jazz veteran the late great Al Galladoro, who after recording with the young saxophonist said, “Tucker Antell is from another planet!”. He attended the University of Michigan for two years, studying with the late master Donald Walden before transferring to the New England Conservatory of music in Boston, where he studied with George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, Billy Hart and Cecil McBee, among the many other great musicians. Tucker received a B.A. from the New England Conservatory. Currently, Tucker lives in Boston while teaching, recording, and performing in a variety of bands and ensembles in the New England area, some of which include: Fat City Band, a 6 piece original blues band, and the Beantown Swing Orchestra, an 18 piece classic swing dance band.
Sarah Jacques Bacon
Violin, Suzuki Violin Repertoire Class
Sarah Jacques received her B.M. in violin performance, with honors from DePaul University, and received her M.M. from the Longy School of Music. She is a founding member of the International Chamber Artists in Chicago, Illinois and performs with the Seven Hills Orchestra, Worcester. She has received her Suzuki training from Carrie Reuning-Hummel, Lorraine Fink, and Katherine Wood. Sarah also teaches at Making Music Matters!, and the Powers Music School.
Chaim Burstein
Guitar, Bass
As a dedicated performer and educator, Chaim Burstein is a multi-talented musician who has taught guitar, theory, ear-training, jazz improvisation and composition for the past six years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Chaim went on to earn his Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia PA where he studied with jazz guitar greats Pat Martino and Jimmy Bruno. A recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, he has performed throughout the east coast as both a bandleader and sideman, playing alongside jazz giants such as Tim Hagans, Chris Farr and John Riley. He is currently a contributing writer to JazzEd magazine, where he writes instructional articles for educators and students alike. Chaim believes that students learn best when studying their favorite music and has successfully taught students to play guitar styles as varying as jazz, rock, country, blues, folk and funk.
David Cruz
Cello
David Cruz began his cello and musical studies at the Centro de Cultura Musical adn the Escola Professional e Artistica do Vale do Ave. He received his Licenciantura from the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra. From 2001-2003 he was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, where he performed in some of the most important halls in Europe, and under the baton of important conductors such as Sir Colin Davis and Vladimir Ashkenazy. He earned his Master's in Music from The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he studied under Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Janos Starker. He has taught at the Escola Profissional de Arte de Mirandela and the Instituto
Piaget de Mirandela and the Universidade do Minho, as well as the String Academy in Indiana. He is pursuing a Doctorate in Music at Boston University under Michael Reynolds. David has performed both solo and chamber music in Portugal, Spain, France,Switzerland and the United States.
Raluca Dumitrache
Violin
A native from Romania, Ms Dumitrache is an accomplished and active solo, chamber and orchestral violinist. She has been featured as a soloist with the Jennesse Musicales Orchestra at the Parliament Hall in Bucharest, the National Operetta Orchestra, and the Lyceum String Orchestra. Raluca received her Bachelors of Music Performance from the Louisiana State University and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory. Her principal teachers include Irina Muresanu, James Alexander and Daniel Podlovsky. She has attended master classes with Jorja Fleezanis, Yfrah Neamann, Jaques Israelievich, Casile Beluska, Petru Munteanue, Stephan Shipps, the Lions Gate Trio and the New Arts Trio. Raluca currently performs with the Indian Hill Symphony Orchestra, New Hampshire Symphony, Portland Symphony, Listos Chamber Orchestra, Plymouth Symphony and Cape Cod Symphony.
Brian Friedland
Jazz piano
A Chicago native, Brian Friedland's is a dedicated performer and bandleader in addition to his myriad compositional activities and teaching responsibilities. He has performed his original music with trios, quartets, and big bands at the Lima Jazz Festival in Peru, the American Pianists Association's Cole Porter competition, and in prestigious clubs in Los Angeles (Catalina's, Jazz Bakery) and Boston (Ryles, Lily Pad). Friedland also currently leads Rhombus, a six piece, Boston based band that is gaining recognition and an audience for their dynamic and highly inventive performances. Their music draws on a vast array of influences, fusing the sonorities of modern jazz, the rhythmic complexities of Balkan music, and the energy of rock, with the experimentation of avant-garde improvisation, and the thematic development of classical music and can be heard on Friedland's second CD release, "Rhombus". Friedland has studied with jazz composers Vince Mendoza and Kim Richmond and pianists Shelly Berg, Allan Pasqua, and Danilo Perez. He has a master's degree in jazz composition from New England Conservatory and a bachelor's degree in jazz performance from the University of Southern California.
Tal Gamlieli
Double Bass, Musicianship and Theory
A music educator and performer, Tal has taught Bass, theory, ear training and coached performing ensembles at the Jerusalem Academy, the Israeli Conservatory, the Kiriat Ono Conservatory and founded the music program at the Keshet High School in Jerusalem. After graduating from the Jerusalem Academy (Israel) in classical performance he went on and completed a Masters in Jazz performance at the New England Conservatory. During his first year at NEC he won the Downbeat Award for Jazz instrumentalist in the category "College Outstanding Performance." Since his arrival to the U.S. Tal has performed, recorded and or toured with such musicians as Danilo Perez, Jerry Bergonzi, Lee Konitz and Adam Cruz. Gamlieli’s current projects include: A new trio that puts an emphasis on music education by sharing the creative process of improvisation with the audience, The Tal Gamlieli Quartet, which performs and records his original compositions. Tal is also a pivot member of the Massimo Sammi Quintet, the Michel Reis Trio and the Jason Yeager trio and Performs regularly in the Boston area.

Susan Gottschalk
Violin, Viola
Susan Gottschalk received a Bachelor of Music from Boston University and completed further studies at the Suzuki Institute of Ithaca as well as at the University of Colorado. Her principal instructors have included Roman Totenberg and Raphael Bronstein. An avid freelancer, Susan is a member of The Orchestra at Indian Hill and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. She is also a faculty member of the Greenwood Music Camp.
Paul Jacobs
Piano
Paul Jacobs has performed extensively on the East coast including New York and Boston. His repertoire covers the standard classics as well as 20th century and new works. Recent solo recitals included works by Sofia Gubaidulina, and the Ives Concord Sonata; and recent chamber music performances featured works by John Harbison, Lee Hyla, and Leon Kirchner. Performances include Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival and a benefit concert for ovarian cancer. Paul holds an Artist Diploma Degree from Longy School of Music where he was an Honors Competition winner, a M.M. from Michigan State University and B.M. from Hope College where he was winner of the Concerto Competition. His teachers and coaches include Randall Hodgkinson, Deborah Moriarty, Joan Conway, and the Pacifica Quartet. In addition to being a solo performer, Paul plays four-hands music with his wife Yilin You. He is a teacher of all ages, and is also a faculty member of Brookline Music School. He enjoys teaching and learning from a diverse group of students.
Lorna Henderson
Piano
Lorna Henderson performed the Khachaturian Piano Concerto as the youngest winner in the history of the University of Tulsa Symphony Concerto-Aria Competition. She went on to study with Portuguese pianist and jurist of the Tchaikovsky Competition, Sequeira Costa, at the University of Kansas where she received an M. M. She also studied composition with Charles Hoag, and was a performing member of the K. U. New Music Ensemble, promoting works by modern and living composers. She has made recordings for films, and concertizes actively in the States and Europe, performing both as a pianist and coloratura soprano. In her teaching, she strives to balance technical versatility with artistic expression.

Elizabeth Johnson
Voice
Elizabeth Ann Johnson, originally from Seattle, Washington, has worked in the Boston area as a singer and voice teacher, since earning her Master's degree from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has been on the roster of the Boston Bel Canto Opera since 1997. November of 2003 marked her debut in a major role with orchestra as she appeared in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor, with the BBCO. When not singing opera, Ms. Johnson enjoys singing oratorio, music theatre and art songs, having appeared with the Polymnia Choral Society, Concord Chorus, Masterworks Chorale, North Shore Music Theatre and various recitals both solo and with colleagues. Ms. Johnson currently teaches voice at the Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA, Wakefield High School, and privately. She has formerly taught at Brimmer and May in CHestnut Hill and the Longy School of Music.
Keith Kirchoff
Piano
Pianist and composer Keith Kirchoff has played in many of the United States' largest cities, as well as major cities throughout Italy, Canada, Great Britian, and The Netherlands. As a strong supporter of modern music, Kirchoff has premiered over 100 new works and commissioned over a dozen compositions. He has appeared with orchestras throughout the U. S. performing a wide range of concerti, including the Boston premier of Charles Ives' EmersonConcerto and the world premier of Matthew McConnell's Concerto for Toy Piano. With his highly unique lecture style integrated into his programs, Kirchoff strives to enhance the status of classical music in American culture, stressing the importance of modern music to keep the art alive and current. Holding degrees from both New England Conservatory and the University of Oregon, Kirchoff has been actively teaching for fifteen years, most recently teaching at the Los Angeles Music and Art School in California. The co-founder of the composer's ensemble "Agenda," he has also appeared with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble and performs regularly with the Callithumpian Consort, Boston's premier modern music ensemble. With the latter, he has released the world premier recording of John Luther Adams' For Lou Harrisonon New World Reocrds, and will appear on two other upcoming releases featuring the music of Earle Browne and Christian Wolff. He has recorded on the New World, Zerx, Bridge, and SEAMUS labels, and the first volume of his four-album set featuring the music of Leo Ornstein is due for release early next year on Thinking outLOUD Records.
Yi-Hsiu Liu
Violin
Classically trained in violin and piano, Yi-Hsiu believes music could enrich people’s lives and enjoys working with all ages and all levels. A native of Taiwan, Yi-Hsiu is the 1st place winner of Plymouth Music Competition in 2007 and the recipient of the Distinguished Scholarship of the Taiwan National Science Council in 2002 for her research. She performs with National Repertory Orchestra (2007), Orchestra of Indian Hill, Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Chamber Orchestra. Received her Master of Music under Irina Muresanu from The Boston Conservatory, where she was the winner of 2007 String Honors Competition. Currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Boston University studying with Peter Zazofsky, Yi-Hsiu is a faculty member of Youth & Muse International Summer Music Festival and Cambridge Center of Adult Education; she also maintains her own private violin studio in Boston and Cambridge.
Chieko Loy
Piano
Chieko Tamura Loy, a native of Yokohama, Japan, received her Bachelor in Music degree from the Senzoku Academy of Music, in Japan and her Master in Music from the University of Tulsa. In addition to being qualified to teach piano, voice, and music theory to all ages, Ms. Loy is certified to teach with several children’s musical teaching methods. She has taught music in Japan, India, Hong Kong, Oklahoma, and Massachusetts for almost 4 0 years. She has performed as a soprano in opera companies, international festivals and community events. She has been selected to judge piano guild auditions in eight states since 1999. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
Colleen McGary-Smith
Cello, Junior Orchestra
Colleen began her cello studies at the age of 5 in St. Catherine's Ontario and continued her pre-college studies in the Preparatory Department of the Eastman School of Music. She completed her B. M. in cello performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music and a M. M. in cello performance from Boston University. Colleen studied conducting with Carl Topilow at the Cleveland Institute of Music and with her father, Dr. Thomas McGary. Colleen currently performs with Boston Baroque, Orchestra of Indian Hill, Handel and Haydn Society. Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, and other freelance ensembles in the Boston area. In addition, she is a member of Trio 21, a piano trio which explores the music for the genre of the 20th century. Colleen's past performances include the Columbus Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Canton Symphony and the Washington Bach Consort. Colleen is an active instructor of both cello and chamber music. Previous teaching appointments include the New England Conservatory Preparatory Department, Powers Music School, Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and The Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory Department. Colleen can be heard on the Telarc label.
Wendy Parker
Voice
Wendy Parker received her M.M. in voice performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and her B.A. in voice performance from the University of Massachusetts. She completed professional operatic training programs at OperaWorks in Los Angeles, BASOTI in San Francisco, and the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Wendy has professional voice teaching certifications in the Somatic Voicework™ (for contemporary/pop) and Northwest Institute of Voice methods. Wendy is an active performer in opera, oratorio, recital, and musical theater, as well as folk and her own original pop-folk songs. Operatic engagements include the title role in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Portland Opera, POGO tour), Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Rogue Opera), and Lady Billows in Albert Herring, (Bay Area Summer Opera Theater). Her musical theater roles include Maria in West Side Story, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, and Rapunzel in Into the Woods. She has appeared as a concert soloist in the Yuletide Spectacular (Oregon Symphony), Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (Redding Symphony), Beethoven’s Mass in C, Bach’s Magnificat, and Vivaldi’s Gloria (University of Portland Orchestra), and Handel's Messiah (San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra).Wendy’s teaching fosters student creativity and independence by incorporating strong technical skill-building, improvisation, Eurhythmics, and drama play.
Jorge Perez-Albela
Percussion
Jorge Pérez-Albela began playing drumset and cajon in his native Lima, Perú. A Bostonian since 1994, he is a graduate of Berklee College of Music
and the Musicians Institute (Percussion Institute of Technology) where he graduated with honors.
Jorge has performed with Maria Schneider, Danilo Perez, Bert Seager, Geoffrey Keezer, Eva Ayllon, Sofia Koutsovitis and Mili Bermejo. He has played at various International Jazz festivals and in venues such as: The Blue Note NYC, The Jazz Standard, Jordan Hall, Berklee Performance Center. Jorge is on the faculty at Berklee College of Music for the 2010 Summer Performance Program and also directs a music therapy program in Brookline, MA since 1997. A pioneer program at the Edward Devotion School that helps children with various learning/emotional challenges through music therapy. He has taught Master Classes in various prestigious Colleges and Universities throughout the U.S. and South America.

Yumi Okada
Violin
A native of Japan, Yumi Okada won the 2nd prize in Aichi Arts Foundation Competition in 2006 in Japan. She won the 3rd prize from the International CHamber Ensemble Competition of New England in 2005, Concerto Competition and Honors Competition in 2003, and performed with the Longy Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Okada earned her Bachelor of Arts degree studying with Michael Vaiman at the Fine Arts University of Aichi. When she graduated, she won the esteemed Kuwabara award for the best in performance at her university. She earned her Performance Diploma at Indiana University after studying with Ilya Kaler and Nelli Shkolnikova. Ms. Okada earned her Artist Diploma and Masters Degree at Longy School of Music studying with Malcolm Lowe with the "Lia and William Poorvu" Scholarship. She is the concertmaster of the Washington Sinfonietta since 2006 and a member of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. Yumi also maintains her own private teaching studio in the Boston area.

Jonathan Pascual
Guitar
Jonathan "Juanito" Pascual is a multifaceted teacher, performer and composer, in styles ranging from flamenco to classical, blues, jazz and more. He holds a Bachelor's of Music degree from New England Conservatory where he graduated with honors. As a soloist he has performed in major events and venues such as the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Festival Flamenco Internacional, and has been seen and heard on television and radio stations around the country. He has traveled extensively as a flamenco dance accompanist as well, with renowned companies including those of Omayra Amaya, Jose Grco II, Romon de los Reyes and many more. A devoted and versatile teacher, he has been teaching students of all ages and levels in many styles of guitar since 1991, and currently directs and teaches an annual summer intensive flamenco workshop at NEC.
Ji-Won Suh
Cello
As a soloist, Ms. Suh has been featured with orchestras worldwide, including The Hungary Svaria Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Waltz Orchestra, and Cheju Symphony Orchestra, among others. She has performed with Ensemble 212, the New York Soloist Ensemble, and the Ewha Celli, a 24 cello ensemble and has recently given a recital in Catania, Italy. Ji-Won's competition honorsare first prizes in The Korean Music Society Competition, The Ewha Woman's University's Concerto Competition, and The City of Seoul Young Artist Competition. Ms Suh has taught at the Manhasset School of Music and privately. Ji-Won holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Ewha Woman's University in Korea. She earned her Masters of Music degree and Professional Studies Diploma from The Mannes College The New School of Music in New York. She currently studies with Michael Reynolds at Boston University for her Doctoral degree of Musical Arts.
Rasa Vitkauskaite
Piano
Rasa Vitkauskaite has won top prizes at numerous prestigious international piano competitions including First Prizes at the Rubinstein Piano Competition (Paris), Les Rencontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes (Belgium), the competition in Taurisano (Italy), and the Mendelssohn Cup (Italy). In 2007, Rasa won a Kathryn Wasserman Davis grant that supported her tour promoting peace in Israel. In her native country of Lithuania, Ms. Vitkauskaite has garnered the top prizes at six national competitions. Ms.Vitkauskaite has played in many festivals around the world and has given concerts in Europe, Israel, China, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela and the United States.
Ms. Vitkauskaite is also very active as a chamber musician. Last season marked the release of her debut CD with clarinetist Jonathan Cohler on Rhapsodie Française. The duo has recently recorded a new CD titled Romanza, which will be released in the fall. Ms. Vitkauskaite is also the pianist of the Xonor Trio with violinist Yumi Okada and cellist Ignacy Grzelazka. Ms. Vitkauskaite studied at the National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, Lithuania, from which she graduated with honors. She then won a scholarship to study at the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy. Subsequently, she studied at the Boston
Conservatory, where she won the H. Wilfred Churchill piano scholarship competition both in 2007 and 2008, and completed her Bachelor and Masters Degrees.
Yilin You
Piano
Winner of the 2004 Honor's Concert Competition, Yilin You (D.M.A. and M.M. Michigan State University; B.M., University of Texas at Austin) appeared with the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra. She also has appeared with the Mid-Texas Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the 1998 Young Artist Competition in Seguin Texas. Yilin has performed in solo recitals as well as numerous chamber recitals in the People's Republic of China and the United States. Her major professors include Panayis Lyras, Young Hi Moon, and the late William Race. Yilin took part in master classes of Richard Goode, John Perry, Earl Wild, Joan Tower, Alexander Slobodyanik, Willard Schultz, Igor Suhomlinov, and Alexander Bugaevski. She is currently an active performer and teacher in the New England area.
